Pink Agave on Virgin Voyages ships is not your typical Mexican restaurant. It is Mexican elevated to a luxury level. From the moment I walked in I was wowed and would like to share my Virgin Voyages Pink Agave Review with you including the restaurant’s inspiration, the atmosphere, and of course the amazing food!
What is Pink Agave?
Pink Agave is inspired by Mexico’s red-hot culture and sexy food scene. Agave is the term used to describe spirits such as tequila, mezcal, and other lesser-known varieties that are distilled from any species of the agave plant that is common in Mexico. The Crew will take you on a highly curated dining journey along with the largest selection of tequila and mezcal at sea.
My husband and I did not partake in an alcoholic drink, but I did see several people enjoying several of the specialty drinks at the Pink Agave.
My Pink Agave Review
Once we were seated, we were handed a menu and the crew member left us with a plate of nuts and other tasty bites. My husband and I were not fans of the nut plate. They were a bit too salty and
My husband and I decided on a couple of appetizers to share. We chose the Guacamole which has pomegranate seeds, jalapenos, and totopos (which is tortilla chips). Fun fact, The name totopo comes from the Aztec (or Nahuatl) totopochtli, meaning ‘toasted thing or thing that crunches when eaten’. I did not grab a picture but the appetizer was delicious!
The second appetizer we tasted was the Esquites, which is Mexican Street corn. The grilled corn, spicy aioli, and lime were a perfect mix of flavor. A bit spicy, but not too much.
Pink Agave has small plate appetizers and medium plate appetizers. I ordered the Camaron Amarillo which has seared shrimp, mole Camarillo, and new potatoes. Now this dish was tasty but was way too spicy for me. My husband tasted it and thought it was a perfect level of spice. I am a spice lightweight.
For my main course, I ordered the Sea Bass which has a mole sauce on top. I had never had sea bass before this so I can’t comment much on the quality but it was so good. It was cooked to perfection since it was flaky and not dried out or rubbery. I did not think the sauce was too spicy at all. I was tempted to order another but the richness of the food left me full. I barely had room for dessert, but you always need to make room for dessert!
My husband chose the steak with chile ancho and quesillo. He did like it but loved my choice better. He thought the steak was a little bit too salty.
Virgin Voyages Pink Agave Tips
For My Plus-Size Friends. The seating at Pink Agave is very plus-size-friendly. There is a variety of seating, from chairs with arms, and chairs without arms, booths (with movable tables), and bar tools for the bar area.
Don’t Skip Getting a Photo in the Entrance. One of the best things I loved about Virgin Voyages was all the places to get a great photo! The entrance makes you feel like you are walking the runway.
Don’t Be Afraid to Try Everything. Pink Agave like all the other dining venues on Virgin Voyages is included in your cruise fare so you can order anything and/or everything from the menu.
